2013 Cherry Blossom Peak Expected March 26th-30th

The National Park Service announced yesterday that the cherry blossoms are expected to peak March 26th through the 30th (mark your calendars!).  Peak bloom is defined as when 70% of the blossoms are open and 70% of the DMV area (not including tourists) are also out viewing them!  Other dates to note on the calendar are the 2013 Cherry Blossom Festival dates from March 20th through April 14th.  The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is scheduled for April 13th.

2013 will actually be the 101st anniversary of the gift of the Japanese trees to the U.S.  Many of the trees were planted around the Tidal Basin.  If you don't feel like dealing with the tourists, there are many smaller neighborhoods that feature these beautiful blossoms.
