Independence Day Fireworks - Montgomery County style

If you want to avoid the sweaty metro and the crowded streets the National Mall fireworks display, here are some local fireworks celebrations.

• Annapolis Harbor Parade and Fireworks
• Arlington's Independence Day Party - 3-10pm at Long Bridge Park full of family-friendly events.
• Alexandria, VA - Mt. Vernon daytime festival including made-for-daylight smoke fireworks ($15 for adults and $7 for kids)
• Williamsburg, VA - Celebrating Revolutionary War style with free evening fireworks.
• City of Gaithersburg - Montgomery County Agricultural Center festivities start at 5pm.
• Frederick, MD - all day festival including scavenger hunt, chili cook-off, and fireworks show at Parkway Elementary School.
• Germantown, MD - at the Maryland SoccerPlex with food vendors on site.
• Kensington, MD - Mid-County Sparklers with performances by Quiet Fire Soul.
• Vienna, VA - Pet parade, chili-cook-off and arts & crafts start at 11am.  Fireworks at 9:15pm.
• Columbia, MD - Lake Kittamaquandi - performances and carnival before the evening fireworks.
• Rockville, MD - Montgomery College Rockville Campus entertainment starting at 7pm and fireworks at 9:30pm.
