Did you know...

...that Montgomery County has its own Waste Transfer Station? The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station is like our second home (sad to say).


Located just south of Shady Grove Road on 355, local residents and commercial haulers bring their trash, recyclables, and yard trim here.  For local residents, access to this facility is FREE!

Here is my husband demonstrating how to properly dispose of used oil.

And here he is tossing a bag of trash.  Kinda cool to visit because you're essentially throwing the trash into a huge pit, which is actually a big trailer they just haul onto a train.  There are other areas where you can properly dispose of electronics (old computers, tvs, vcrs, etc.), bicycles, hazardous liquids (most but not all), tires, tree trimmings, metal, and general trash.  All the employees are super helpful and will gladly direct you to the right area.  Here's a close up of their new signs...super cute. =P
