Local Groupon and Living Social Deals

In case you've been living in a cave, there's something called GROUPON and LIVING SOCIAL (headquartered in DC) deals where local merchants offer mass marketing deals to the local community 50-90% off regular pricing in hopes that you'll use them again.  My mom, for one is a big fan: she has a whole binder of deals she hoards.  Everytime we go out, she offers one of her expiring restaurant deals!  If you can't use your Groupon for some reason, there are even websites that you can trade or sell including CoupRecoup and DealsGoRound.

I've bought Groupons and Living Social deals for almost everything from dance classes to ski lift tickets (buy one get one free at Seven Springs!).  Here's just a taste of what I bought recently.
  • Potomac Pizza - One large 16-inch cheese pizza with 2 toppings for $10.
  • Hilton Alexandria Mark Center - 1 night stay for $70 (including all taxes, guess that's not exactly the BEST deal...)
  • Soldierfit - One month free hour-long Boot Camp.  Just did a class last night and paying for it today!
  • Picaboo - 10x15 Canvas Print for $25!  Not exactly local but still a great AmazonLocal deal.
Here's a taste of today's Groupon/Living Social deals and what I personally would recommend.
  • Freddy's Lobster & Clams - Bethesda New England-Style seafood $10 for $20 value.
  • Ace Foot Spa - Gaithersburg; $33 for $66 value; you can never go wrong with a 60 minute reflexology session.
  • Lighthouse Tofu - Centreville or Annandale; $10 for $20 value; Korean food at a discount.
  • Honey Pig Korean BBQ - Annandale; $15 for $30; Forget going to the clubs...24 hour Korean BBQ w/ Gangham Style blasting in the distance? I'm there!

  1. Great post. These are great social deals! The honey pig korean BBQ sounds amazing. I will definitely have to check these out. Thanks so much for sharing.
